Welcome to AGC
Welcome to the brand new AGC Scholarships website. We are excited to be ready to accept donations and bring you current information on infertility and financial assistance. AGC scholarships will help assist patients who are dealing with the financial burden of fertility treatments, previous debt from treatment and/or adoption costs.
A little information on AGC…
Aprill Lane is the president and founder of the AGC Scholarship 501(c)3. Aprill and her husband suffered with infertility for 4.5+ years (in actuality, you never stop suffering from it). During that time, Aprill struggled to find support and women that she could relate to. She started looking online for support and met a few people locally that were also dealing with infertility and loss. The girls would get together for dinner, laugh, cry and just take comfort in having someone that “gets it”. Over time, Aprill developed strong relationships with not just the local women but also the women she met on online support groups. She then started an email chain with all those women. That email chain turned into a support group called AGC. The group now consists of 30+ women, from all different walks of life, with one common goal…to have a family.
Aprill has been fortunate enough to live in a state with mandated insurance coverage. However, even with dual coverage, Aprill and her husband spent over $75,000 in out-of-pocket costs for treatment. While going through this, she was hearing stories of some of the AGC women who had to take out loans, refinance their homes or simply could no longer pursue a family because of the costs. Currently only 15 states require insurance coverage for infertility treatment. Even within those 15 states, the coverage can range from $100-a full cycle. No person should be denied a family because of the costs of treatment due to a medical condition. Aprill felt a range of emotions from guilt for having coverage, sadness for those who don’t and anger that turned into inspiration. She wanted to do something to help those people. The first thing that came to mind was funding. How could she help other couples with the financial costs of treatment and/or adoption?
After nearly 3 years of working with an attorney and the IRS, AGC Scholarships became a non-profit. We are incredibly excited to be able to help so many couples achieve their goals of being parents.

What a fabulously wonderful idea!!
My husband and I have been trying for our first for going on 4.5 years now. 4 IUI’s (2 natural, 1 with Clomid and 1 with injectables) and 6 months of COBRA payments later (in an effort to retain the insurance that had some IF coverage) we are currently not able to pursue any treatment at this time due to cost. We are about to begin paying down debt, after which we will start to save for a chance at IVF.
It is heartbreaking to know there are so many couples, just like us, who want nothing more than a family of their own and that it’s so far out of reach purely because of cost. It is further heartbreaking to know that health insurance will happily cover and dole out money to pay for Viagra and Cialis for men past their prime, but they refuse to cover a disease affecting 1 in 6 couples.
I am encouraged and inspired by your generosity of time and spirit to help bring together the funds to assist the millions of us who are rolling our pennies to finance the greatest dream of our lives.

Ugh, we have dual insurance plus employer coverage and we have spent over $60k out of pocket. That’s just not right. I wish I could change the State mandates. Maybe one day they will change but in the mean time, scholarships will have to do.
Keep checking in for application open enrollment!
